• Stretch

The title 'STRETCHED' refers to the tessellated marquetry (tiled) pattern of hand sawn veneer on the top of this decorative table that has been distorted and morphed to reflect the structure of the four arms that support the top from underneath. The intent of this is to integrate the top and bottom into one organic object wherein each of its parts is informing/interacting with each other. In other words, the base and the top of this table are all one interacting form.

The top and bottom of this piece are tiled with over three thousand unique tile shapes. Even though the bottom would seldom if ever be seen, it is treated no differently. Nature does not create things that are finished only on one side.
